In the final week before camp begins, meet a senior from the JCU offensive line: Nick Northup!

The Strongsville, OH native has made a big impact in the program as a Man of Carroll. Learn more about the rising senior.

Why did you choose to attend John Carroll?
I chose John Carroll for the culture and competitiveness of the football program. As well as getting a top notch education.
What does being a Blue Streak mean to you?
Being a Blue Streak means no matter the circumstances, good or ugly, to just put your head down and figure it out. To come out on top in situations that many people would just crumble up in. Yet in the same respect, helping others in those situations to bring them with you.
What are some of your favorite memories as a student at JCU?
Some of my favorite memories at JCU is the Cafsgiving and also all the events that they host.
What is the best part about being a student-athlete at JCU?
Best part is the flexibility of getting a very good education yet continuing playing the sport I love. And the sports keep me on a very strict schedule to make sure I get all my work done.

I have been involved in the Be the Match program on campus and actually got to go donate.
Which JCU faculty or staff member has made the greatest impact on you and why?
Coach James has made a huge impact on me. Giving up some time he had off to accommodate me when I was forced into taking late classes or classes that interfere with meetings or practice.
Reflecting back on your time at JCU, what advice would you give an incoming freshman?
I would say don’t be shy. I was a little nervous coming in but being older we get excited to meet the freshmen and being able to hang out with them.
What do you want to do for a living when you graduate from JCU?
I would like to go to medical school after I graduate JCU and hopefully get into orthopedics.
